Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" or
LEED?
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) was
create by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to address the issues
of providing and managing sustainable development, through the use of
environmentally friendly building construction techniques and materials.
This concept recognized the need to conserve the earth's natural,
physical, chemical and biological systems and environment.
LEED Accredited
Professionals, are working with the building industry to utilize
the LEED program as a way to help identify green building strategies.
Utilizing the LEED program can help all of us achieve evironmentally
friendly, highly energy efficient, cost-effective projects by
integrating building design with day lighting, electric lighting and
mechanical systems.

179D provides new commericial building developers either $1.80 or $0.60
per area tax deduction per square foot based on the overall building
performace against a reference building in the local area (climate zone).
To get one of the two tax deductions an energy analysis must be completed
and available if requested by the Federal Government.

How to save time getting
your building permits through the plan check process?
While the California Energy Commission (CEC) requires that all building
departments incorporate a Certificate of Compliance into the plans,
each building department still has the discretion of requiring additional
Title 24, Part 6 documentation. In other words, being familiar with
the local building department's additional requirements, will save,
everyone involved countless hours, and will expedite your process. Also,
how the forms add added to the plans, such as: imprinted, stapled, attached
using sticky-back paper requires the approval of the local building
department.
